The General Directorate of Environmental Management continues to conduct activities to adapt the Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) Directive into the national legislation, regulated under the 1st and 2nd chapters of the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED) 2010/75/EU. One of these studies is performing under the Project “Determination of Industrial Emissions Strategy of Türkiye in Accordance with Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (DIES)”, mainly focused on the Chemical and Mineral sector.

Within the scope of the DIES Project activities, financed by the European Union and the Republic of Türkiye,  training sessions are being delivered in the form of “Training of Trainers” (ToT). At the end of the training Program, trainers will act as multipliers to carry out training courses oriented on Ministry specific needs related to the implementation of IPPC approach. To be successful trainers and facilitators, participants will need to acquire good methodical competence and personal and social skills, in addition to extensive technical expertise in their subject matter.

The first of the ToT session was held at Ankara Point Hotel on 29 September-1 October 2021; the second one was held at Antalya Susesi Luxury Resort Hotel on 19-21 October 2021. You can find the Agenda of the 1st ToT here and the 2nd ToT here.

The 3rd ToT was held on 14-16 December 2022 at Armada Grannos Hotel, Haymana, Ankara. With 3 days of training, comprehensive presentations were made under the titles of Techniques to consider in the determination of BAT and BAT-AELs and Reference Conditions, IED and monitoring of emissions, Sectors and sub-sectors covered under ‘Other Activities’ in IED Annex I. The third training was opened by the welcoming speech of MoEUCC, Ms. İrde ÇETİNTÜRK GÜRTEPE, head of the Department of Air Management, and continued with the presentation delivered by the project Team Leader, Ms. Dubravka Pajkin TUCKAR of the overview of the topics given at the 1st and 2nd ToT.

The training was continued in line with Agenda and presentations were delivered by Project Key Experts, prof. Dr. Ülkü YETİŞ and Dr. Bianca Maria SCALET, then Senior Technical Experts Dr. Zeynep YÖNTEM, Ms. Özge YÜCEL, Dr. Tülay Çağlayan ÖZLÜ from the consortium partner Ekodenge and Mr. Sander Vander AA from the consortium partner Vito in Belgium. In addition to the project team, Environment and Urbanization Specialist Ms. Betül KESKİN ÇATAL from the Department of Measurement and Monitoring, ÇEDİDGM Laboratory, MoEUCC made an informative presentation on Pollutant Identification and Transport Registration System in Türkiye while Air Emission Management Portal Project Coordinator and NEFES Project Manager Ms. Ümmühan DEMİREZEN from MoEUCC presented decision support systems for emission reduction in Türkiye. Furthermore, DYO San. Tic. A.Ş. Technical Factory Director Mr. Hasan ŞEREFHAN, Orta Anadolu Tekstil Ticaret ve Sanayi A.Ş. Environment and Sustainability Engineer, Ms. Seda CÜNDÜBEY and Turkuaz Seramik A.Ş. Energy Manager Mr. Hakan CANDAN also participated as a speaker in order to convey the good environmental practices they have realized in their facilities from the textile, chemistry and ceramics sectors.

In the first two days of the training, following the presentations, group studies were carried out with question sets prepared by Project Technical Assistant Team, and within the scope of the training, topics aimed to perpetuate the information through examples with a productive discussion environment.
